imagine…Your space can make the world a better place

Our mission is to make people feel at home, no matter where that home may be. And beyond that, we envision a world where everyone has a home.

Creating a sense of belonging goes beyond interior design. That’s why giving back is part of what we do.

Through our partnership with B1G1, we support projects that provide shelter, education, and opportunity for those who need it most. Every contribution goes directly to communities, helping to make a real difference.

Each project reflects our values of belonging, opportunity and play.

When you work with us, you’re not just designing a home, you’re also helping to change lives around the world.

Inhabitat was founded on the belief that home is more than just a place;  it’s a feeling.

That belief started taking shape when Sandra, the founder, watched her grandmother visit the home she was forced to leave in the 1940s. It was a place filled with memories, yet no longer hers. Seeing how deeply displacement affected identity and belonging left a lasting impact. That experience would later shape Sandra’s approach to design.

After living in 10 cities around the world, she learned that while home may change, it’s possible to create a new identity through home. That journey is what fuels her passion today: helping others create spaces that feel meaningful, personal, and truly their own.

Sandra grew up surrounded by art and creativity. Free time was spent in the school art studio, constantly experimenting with new ways to express herself.

One of her most cherished memories comes from her time in Bahrain. Every year, a man would arrive in the neighborhood with a pickup truck piled high with Persian rugs, each sourced directly from artisans. Families could sift through, choosing pieces to keep or return the following week. To Sandra, every visit felt like Christmas, unrolling the fascinating patterns, running her hands over the textures, and discovering the stories woven into each rug.

That early love for beautiful, meaningful objects has never left her. It became the foundation of her approach to design, creating spaces that are not only functional and stylish but also deeply personal, layered with stories and a sense of belonging.

FAQ

How long will it take?
Timelines vary depending on your project's scope, but if your project doesn’t involve renovations or custom joinery, expect a timeline starting from 5-6 weeks. We'll outline a timeframe for your project during our initial conversations.
Do you custom-make furniture or source locally available pieces?
We do both - curating a mix of custom pieces, locally sourced finds, and unique design details to create a space that feels personal and thoughtfully designed.
Do you offer design and build/turnkey renovation services?
We’re not a one-stop shop for design and build, but we collaborate with trusted contractors to execute your design. This ensures you get the best of both worlds: thoughtful design and quality execution.
What if I already have my own furniture?
That’s where our Art and Styling service comes in - we strategically enhance your space by identifying key areas we can elevate with art, decor, and thoughtful touches.
What kind of budget should I set aside?
It really depends on your project's scope and style. A good starting point is to browse online for pieces you love - this will give you a realistic sense of the investment required.
Do you do site visits?
Yes, once your project is confirmed, we’ll visit your space. If you’d like a site visit beforehand, we can arrange this for a fee - which will be deducted from your final project cost if you decide to move forward.
